History of ALSO
History of ALSO
Through the years there have been changes in our community and in society, but through it all ALSO has maintained its spirit and determination to provide the best services to adults with physical disabilities, brain injury survivors and the senior population of our community.
It was founded in 1938, as CPA (Ontario Federation of Cerebral Palsy Association), with the opening of a workshop for both adults and children with disabilities.
In 1991, the name of the Organization was changed to APPD (Association for Persons with Physical Disabilities) of Windsor and Essex County.
In 2010, the name changed to ALSO (Assisted Living Southwestern Ontario) to better reflect the broader client base receiving services.
